Description
Number 12 on Pond Road is a villa built in the second quarter of the 19th century. It features three bays, two storeys, and a basement. The exterior is made of multicoloured stock brick with a stuccoed front. The roof is low pitched and hipped, covered with slate, and has a modern dormer added on the left, which disrupts the roofline. Below the eaves, there is a frieze decorated with palmette and anthemion motifs. The villa has sash windows with glazing bars; the first-floor windows are set in moulded architraves. The ground floor windows are framed by an entablature surround that also features the palmette and anthemion frieze. Access to the villa is via six steps leading up to a prostyle Ionic porch supported by fluted columns. The entrance has a half-glazed door topped with a cornice head and a rectangular fanlight. To the right of the villa, there is a contemporary attached outbuilding. Numbers 4 to 12 on Pond Road form a group.
