Description

Wemyss Cottage is an early to mid-19th century villa located on the west side of Pond Road, SE3. The building has two storeys and features three windows. It has a fairly low pitched, hipped roof that is slated, with deep eaves. The left bay of the cottage projects slightly. The exterior is finished in stucco, and the first-floor sash windows, which have glazing bars, are defined by pilasters that rest on a cill band and rise to a frieze. There are later blind cases on the windows.

On the ground floor, there is a canted bay window with glazing bars on the left, while the two right bays are slightly forward of the first floor and include a frieze, cornice, and blocking course. To the right, there are five steps leading up to a four-light long easement window with a transom. The central door, which is now half glazed, is well set back and features a narrow reeded architrave and a plain rectangular fanlight.
