Description
Number 5 Gloucester Circus, dating from around 1830 to 1840, is a three-storey building with an attic and basement, featuring three windows. It has a slate mansard roof with two square dormers and is constructed from multicoloured stock brick. The ground floor is banded and rusticated stucco, while the basement is plain stucco. The second-floor sash windows have gauged, flat brick arches with vertical bars. On the first floor, there are long transomed casements that open onto a full-width balcony, which is supported by narrow round columns and features a cast iron rail and a swept lead hood with pierced bargeboards. The ground floor includes sash windows with vertical bars. Access is via five steps leading to a half-glazed door, which has a cornice head, a rectangular fanlight, and a bracketed cornice hood. The property also has a cast iron handrail and spearhead area railings. Number 5 is part of a group with numbers 1 to 8 Gloucester Circus.
