Description

This is a late 18th-century house of three storeys and three bays, located on the west side of Crooms Hill. The facade is of yellow stock brick with a parapet. The central bay projects forward in a bowed shape. The second floor features a lunette window on either side, and three sash windows within the bow. A stone cill band runs along the base of these windows. The first floor incorporates two windows on each side, and three in the bow, with the central window arched to create a Venetian effect. The ground floor has two windows on either side of a centrally placed six-panel door, which is set within a wooden doorcase featuring a moulded architrave, sunk panel pilasters and a modillion cornice. Gauged brick arches are above all the windows, and the sashes retain their original glazing bars. Cast iron spearhead area railings are present, with an urn finial at the left of the door; the area itself has been filled in. The building forms a group with the other listed buildings on the west side of Crooms Hill, from numbers 6 to 46 (even), and numbers 38 and 40.
