Description

This building comprises numbers 16 and 18 Crooms Hill and originally stood as a single house built in the early to mid-17th century. It was later refronted and divided in the mid-18th century. The house is three storeys high and features two windows on each side. It has a steeply pitched roof, now covered with machine tiles, and number 18 has two flat dormers. The front of the building is rendered and includes a parapet. The windows are sash windows, mostly with glazing bars, set within flush, moulded frames. Those at number 16 have small, bracketed cornices. The first-floor windows of number 18 are replaced casements. The doorcases feature carved consoles and a dentil cornice. Number 16 has a panelled frieze. The front door at number 16 consists of six fielded panels with a rectangular fanlight above. Number 18 has a reproduction door of eight fielded panels and a similar fanlight, along with area railings featuring fleur-de-lys finials. Numbers 6 to 46 (even) and numbers 38 and 40 on the West Side of Crooms Hill form a group of listed buildings.
