Description

Nos 8 and 9, Clifton Villas, are a pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century. They are built of brick, with a stucco finish, and have a concealed roof. The houses are three storeys high, with a basement, and are four bays wide, arranged in a 1:2:1 pattern, featuring a slight breakforward in the centre and narrow side entrance bays. Flights of steps lead to the front entrances, which have four-panel doors with overlights, sheltered by a cornice supported on consoles. The sash windows have glazing bars, with margin lights to the ground and first floor centre bays; all windows have architraves. The ground floor windows have pediments on consoles, and the first-floor windows have cornices. The building features floor bands and a cornice. There is a railed basement.
