No 1 GV II

House. Dated 1901 in parapet, by R G Hammond. Small corner building faced in Portland stone with Jacobethan, and Renaissance details. Five storeys and leaded mansard roof. The corner is canted as a "turret" and surmounted by a polygonal, domed cupola. Ground floor fenestration altered, projecting entrance to left. Close set windows flat arched with crisply carved surrounds with shallow relief panels beneath sills and with cast iron balcony on first floor. The parapet is swept and carved between the dies. Prominent corner site with Hay Hill and part of the tightly knit picturesque block Nos 1 to 3.
