Description

Nos 13 to 18 Victoria Square is a block of terraced houses built between 1838 and 1839 by architect Matthew Wyatt. The houses are constructed of stucco and have roofs that are not visible. The corner houses, Nos 16 and 6 Lower Grosvenor Place, feature distinctive corner "pepperpot" turrets, each topped with a lead dome and finial. These corner houses also have Corinthian pilasters that rise through the first and second floors, with similar pilaster treatment on the end houses facing the square and on the street leading into the square from the north.

The block consists of three storeys, an attic, and a basement. Each house is two windows wide, except for the corner houses with turrets and No 13, which has one tripartite window. The doorways and windows are square-headed, with most featuring plate glass sashes and panelled doors. There is a cast iron first-floor balcony at No 14, a cornice above the second floor, and a subsidiary cornice at the attic level. The properties also have cast iron area railings. This block is an integral part of a unified layout and matches the block at Nos 19 to 25 Victoria Square.
