Description

Buckingham Palace Lodge, located to the north of the entrance to the Royal Mews, is a substantial lodge built in the early 19th century. It features yellow brick with Bath stone on the ground floor and has a hipped slate roof with a parapet. The lodge is three storeys high and three windows wide, with a central entrance that is accentuated by a projecting Doric porch. The windows are square-headed with gauged heads on the first and second floors, and they are fitted with sash frames and glazing bars. A stone cornice runs along the top. To the left, there is a five-window return that also has a projecting Doric porch, and a recessed pedimented two-storey wing with another five-window return. The property is enclosed by spearhead area railings and is one of a pair of lodges flanking the entrance to the Royal Mews.
