Description

No. 74, Carlton Hill is a detached villa dating to circa 1850, constructed of Gault brick with stucco dressings and a slate pitched roof. The building is designed in a Tudor/Gothic style and extends over three storeys, an attic, and a basement. It is three windows wide, with the central bay recessed and containing an entrance within a four-centred arch, leading to a panelled door. The right bay features a gable (missing coping) and a crenellated canted bay window to the ground floor. The left bay is treated as a tower with a cornice and hipped roof. The windows are square-headed, two-light mullion and transom designs, architraved, sashed, with plate glass. The building is included on the list solely for its contribution to the group value of the area.
