Description

TQ 2880 SE CLARGES STREET W1 80/62 Nos 45 and 46 9.1.70 GV II

Pair of terrace houses. c. 1730-50. Brown brick with stuccoed ground floors. 4 storeys and basements. Each 3 windows wide. Doorways to left and right respectively, panelled doors with rectangular fan- lights in architrave surrounds. No 45 has flash framed sashes without glazing bars, apart from revealed casements on 1st floor, under flat red brick gauged arches. No 46 has revealed sashes without glazing bars, under flat brown brick gauged arches with pediments added on 1st floor. Moulded cornice over 2nd floor, parapet with coping. No 45 has c. 1800 cast iron balcony to 1st floor and balconette to central 2nd floor window. No 46 has wrought iron balconette to 1st floor. Wrought iron area railings. No 46 has L.C.C. plaque recording the residence of Charles James Fox.
