Description

Nos 43 and 44 Clarges Street are a pair of terrace houses built around 1730 to 1750, with alterations made in the early to mid-19th century. The houses are finished in stucco and topped with slate roofs, standing five storeys tall with basements. Each house features three windows across its facade. No 43 includes a stuccoed columned porch on the left side, while No 44 has a stucco architrave doorcase on the right, complete with a cornice supported by consoles. The windows are revealed sash types without glazing bars, set within architrave surrounds. A continuous cornice runs above the third floor, and the parapet is accented with a secondary cornice. No 43 boasts a stucco balustraded balcony on the first floor, whereas No 44 features a cast iron balcony on the same level.
