Description

No. 58, Greek Street, is a terrace house dating from approximately 1733, with later alterations and heightening. The house is constructed of painted brickwork, with a concealed roof. It is five storeys high and three windows wide. The ground floor has been altered, but the original left-hand entrance remains. The first and second floors retain original window openings with flush frames, set within segmental arches. Later third and fourth floors have windows with flat gauged arches. An original moulded brick cornice sits above the second floor, and above this is a parapet with coping. The interior follows a standard two-room plan on each floor, with a dog-leg staircase. Original features include panelling, box cornices, and a pilastered passage leading to the stairwell. The stairwell contains a cut string, turned balusters, and columnar newel posts. A closed string is present above the second-floor landing.
