Description
No. 78 and 80 on Great Portland Street is a corner block of flats and shops, built in 1904 by W.H. White. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features slate roofs. It showcases a Free Flemish-Jacobean style and stands five storeys tall. Both street fronts are four bays wide and include an octagonal corner turret. The ground floor has altered pilastered shop fronts, while the upper floors feature mullioned-transomed windows with casement lights. The parapet along Great Portland Street is raised in the centre with a shaped gable, and there is a full-height canted bay that is off centre to Riding House Street.
