Description

32 Old Burlington Street is a terraced town house built between 1718 and 1723 by Colen Campbell. It is part of an innovative terrace design that includes No 31, although it has been altered. The building features a brown brick exterior and a slate roof, standing four storeys tall with a basement and a dormered attic. It is three windows wide. The ground floor has been modified with an early 20th-century shop front that is highlighted by engaged columns and an entablature. The upper floors resemble those of No 31, showcasing stone architraves around the sash windows, which do not have glazing bars, along with pulvinated friezes and cornices on the first floor. There is a stone sill band and a stone bracketed cornice that continues from No 31. Wrought iron area railings are present as well. The interior has undergone significant alterations, featuring a late 19th-century stair balustrade, but the service stair and rear closet remain intact, with original panelling on the ground and first floors.
