Description
24A Old Burlington Street is a Grade II* corner terrace house built in 1723 by Timbrell and Stallwood. The building features a brown brick exterior and a slate roof, rising three storeys with a basement and a dormered mansard. It is five windows wide, with a three-window return to Old Burlington Street. The entrance is slightly off-centre, featuring a wooden doorcase adorned with carved consoles and a moulded cornice. The nearly flush framed glazing bar sash windows are topped with red brick segmental arches and dressings. There are red brick bands between the floors and a parapet with coping. Wrought iron area railings with an overthrow and lamps enhance the exterior, and a rainwater head is dated "1717".
Inside, the building remains largely intact, showcasing a staircase with carved tread ends and three twisted balusters per tread, as well as fielded panelling and box cornices. There are also carved chimney pieces. This property is part of the Burlington Estate.
