Description
No. 3 Savile Row is a terraced town house built around 1733, featuring internal alterations. The building is constructed of brown brick and has a new tiled roof. It stands four storeys tall with a basement and is four windows wide. The doorway, which is off-centre to the right, has a stone architrave and is adorned with scrolled carved consoles that support a moulded cornice. The entrance includes a six-panel door and a rectangular patterned fanlight. The windows are fitted with recessed renewed glazing bar sashes beneath flat gauged arches. There is an entablature above the second floor and a parapet with coping, along with a late 20th-century mansard roof.
Inside, the house retains high-quality fielded panelling and plasterwork on some ceilings, particularly in the front first-floor room, as well as carved chimneypieces. However, it has lost its original staircase and has undergone a late 20th-century remodelling on the ground floor. The original octagonal enriched plaster drum for the stair skylight remains intact. This property is part of the Burlington Estate.
