Description
No. 3 Soho Square, including No. 7 Dean Street, is a commercial building constructed in 1903 by R.J. Worley. It features high-quality red brick with painted stone dressings and some tile facings, topped with a slate roof. The building showcases an original Free Style design with a narrow facade and decorative details inspired by Townsend. It stands five storeys tall with a tile-faced gabled attic and consists of a single bay.
The ground floor has an altered shop front that retains a mullioned-transomed display window, although the glazing and doorway to the left have been changed. A large five-light bow window spans the first and second floors, featuring mullioned-transomed small pane casement lights and flanked by projecting quoin-piers. The third and fourth floors have four-light casements, with the upper ones having altered glazing, set back between angled piers. There is a concave balcony between the piers in front of the attic. The facade is adorned with four large dentilled cornices. Below the second-floor course, the piers have panels with stylised trees in relief, and similar trees appear in the apron of the second-floor bow. The angled piers of the top two floors are stone banded. The rear elevation facing Dean Street is plain and constructed of brick, featuring unusually large camber arched casement windows.
