Description
No. 21 Soho Square is a terrace house that also serves as an office, located on a corner site. It was rebuilt between 1838 and 1840, possibly using materials from a structure dating back to around 1678 to 1679. The building features stock brick above a stone-faced ground floor that dates from the 1920s, topped with a slate roof. It has four storeys, a basement, and a mansard attic, with a facade that is four windows wide facing the square.
The ground floor includes a stone pilastered shop front with a central glazed-in porch that has a pediment. The upper floors are adorned with glazing bar sash windows set in flush frames, which have rosettes above them and are topped with flat gauged arches. A heavy dentil cornice is present over the second floor, along with a top cornice and blocking course. There is a moulded cast iron balcony across the first floor, and window guards are installed on the second floor windows. The area railings are made of scrolled cast iron. The return elevation is simpler in design.
