Description

The Statue of Charles II is located in Soho Square, Westminster. It was created in 1681 by the sculptor Caius Gabriel Cibber. Originally, the statue was placed in the center of Square Garden. It is a life-size figure of the King depicted in light armour and wearing a full bottomed wig. The statue is made of Portland stone, which has suffered from significant weathering over time. In 1875-76, it was moved to Grims Dyke in Harrow Weald but was returned to its original location in the square in 1938.
