Description
No. 62 Dean Street is a terrace house, possibly built around 1691 when Dean Street was originally laid out, but more likely it underwent significant rebuilding or refacing in 1734-35. The building is constructed of blackened stock brick and features a slate roof. It stands four storeys high and is four windows wide. The ground floor has a timber shop front, designed in the early 19th century style by Victor Jackson in 1911, which includes small paned bow windows on either side of the doorway, topped with a fascia and cornice. The upper floors are adorned with recessed glazing bar sash windows set in pilastered reveals, all under flat gauged arches and with stone sills. There are stucco-faced plat bands between the storeys and a stone coping at the parapet. The interior has been altered in the early and late 20th century.
