Description

This is a terrace house located in Old Compton Street, dating to 1728, with alterations made in the 19th century. The house is constructed of stock brick with red brick dressings, and has a concealed roof. It is four storeys high and five windows wide. The ground floor features an altered Victorian shop front. The upper floors have recessed sash windows with glazing bars; the central window on the top floor is blind. These windows are set within segmental arches and have red brick dressings. A parapet with coping tops the facade. The rear elevation is of plum-coloured brick.

Internally, the house retains part of the hall-passage panelling, and a plastered opening to the staircase. The staircase is dog-legged, with cut and carved strings on the lower flights and closed strings on the upper flights. Features include turned balusters, column newels, and compartment panelling. Remaining panelling can be found in some first-floor rooms and a closet wing.
