Description

No. 32 Green Street is a town mansion located at the end of a terrace corner site with Dunraven Street, built between 1897 and 1899 by architect Sidney R.J. Smith. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and rusticated groins, topped with a slate roof. It features an unusually restrained and pure "early Georgian" revival style. The mansion has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard roof.

The facade facing Green Street is six windows wide, while the return to Dunraven Street has three windows. A central stone porch with Ionic columns supports a broken segmental pediment at the top of the steps. The windows are flush framed glazing bar sashes set under flat gauged arches, with those on the first floor adorned with pediments. The return to Dunraven Street includes a strong bow with three sash windows on the ground and first floors on the left side.

Both fronts are topped with an enriched projecting crowning cornice, and there are corniced columns and prominent corniced chimney stacks. The interior is designed in a Georgian style but has undergone alterations; it features a grand marble staircase with a wrought iron balustrade in the style of the 18th century.
