Description

TQ 2780 NE and 2880 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER GREEN STREET, W1 67/16 ;68/11 No. 32 G.V. II Town mansion on end of terrace corner site with Dunraven Street. 1897-99 by Sidney R.J. Smith. Red brick with stone dressings, rusticated groins, slate roof. Unusually restrained and pure "early Georgian" revival. 4 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 6 windows wide to Green Street and 3 window return to Dunraven Street. Central stone porch at head of steps with Ionic columns supporting a broken segmental pediment. Flush framed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged arches, those on 1st floor with pediments. Return to Dunraven Street has a through strong bow with 3 sash windows to ground and 1st floors, on left hand side. Enriched projecting crowning cornice to both fronts. Corniced columns and prominent corniced chimney stacks. Interior in Georgian style has undergone alteration; grand marble staircase with C.18 style wrought iron balustrade etc. Survey of London; Vol. XL.
