Description

Nos. 12, 12A, 12B and 14 North Row were built in 1898 as stables and coach houses for No. 32 Green Street. They were designed by Sidney R.J. Smith in a restrained Queen Anne style. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. It comprises two blocks of two storeys, with a basement and dormers to the attic, set back from the street. No. 12 is six windows wide and No. 14 is eleven windows wide. At No. 12, coach house doors have been replaced with glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor, flanking a recessed, architraved entrance. Coach house/garage doors remain at No. 14. The upper floors have flush framed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged arches. A projecting eaves cornice sits above the hipped slate roof, which is accentuated by prominent corniced chimney stacks. The return front of No. 12, facing Dunraven Street, has six windows, sash windows, and area railings.
