Description
Number 25 is a terraced town house, now used as offices, built in 1907/8 by R G Hammond. The building features Portland stone ashlar, which is channelled at the ground floor level, and has a green Tilberthwaite slate roof with box dormers. It stands four storeys tall, including an attic and basement, and has two windows.
The entrance includes a round-arched recessed doorway with a porch supported by columns, leading to a stone balcony that has a bowed shape. This balcony features a well-crafted wrought and cast iron balustrade and extends across a canted bay window that rises from the basement to the second floor. The windows have architraved casements with glazing bars, and those up to the second floor are flanked by recessed panels with lintels of recessed panels.
At the third floor, there is a projecting modillion cornice, and above the fourth floor, the cornice has a blocking course that is broken forward at regular intervals. The building also has attached cast iron railings to the areas. Inside, the first floor drawing rooms are decorated in a neo-Georgian style with light-oak panelling. The property is included for its group value.
