Description

TQ 2880 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER UPPER BROOK 68/25 STREET, Wl No. 21 G.V. II Terraced town house. 1737, with c.1787-1800 alterations and internal remodelling and early 1970s restoration and stuccoing of front. Stucco, slate roof. 4 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 3 windows wide. The channelled stucco ground floor with entrance to left in late C.18 semicircular doorway with narrow side lights and overall, patterned fanlight. Recessed square headed sash windows. Parapet with coping. C.18 wrought iron area railings. Interior retains features of late C.18 remodelling with cornices, friezes, some doorcases etc, a pair of columns between ground floor front and back rooms and several marble chimney pieces all in a restrained rather Henry Holland style, etc; the staircase with wrought iron balustrade originated in this decorative campaign but is more likely to have assumed the present form in alterations of the late 1880s.
