Description
The Running Horse Public House, built between 1839 and 1840 by builder Joshua Higgs, is a group of three houses located in the City of Westminster. The buildings are stuccoed with slate roofs and consist of four storeys and a basement. The pub, No 50, features a three-window front and a four-window return. The first-floor windows are adorned with cornices on consoles, and the central window has a pediment above it. There is a dentilled main cornice and an original course over the second floor, along with a parapet that has a stuccoed blocking course and a scrolled upstand. Nos 52 and 54 also have cornices on consoles for their first-floor windows, complemented by early 19th-century cast iron balconettes. The original main cornice is modillioned and dentilled above the second floor. No 52 includes a porch supported by Greek Doric columns. All upper floor windows retain their glazing bar sashes, and there are cast iron area railings dating from around 1840.
