Description
No. 17 South Molton Street is a terrace house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brown brick with a stuccoed ground floor and has a concealed slate roof. The building stands four storeys high and is three windows wide. The ground floor features a mid-20th century shop front, but the original house doorway remains on the left. This doorway is adorned with Doric pilasters, dosserets, and an open pediment above a semicircular fanlight. The upper floors are fitted with recessed glazing bar sashes that sit beneath stucco voussoirs and keyed flat arches. The building is topped with a parapet that has coping. A plaque on the building commemorates the residence of the poet and painter William Blake from 1804 to 1820.
