Description

The Studio is a pair of semi-detached houses dating from the mid-19th century, located on Hill Road in the City of Westminster. The houses are built of yellow brick with stucco detailing, and have a slate hipped roof extending to the eaves. They are three storeys high, with a basement. Each house has two windows wide, plus a shared blind window in the centre of each floor. The outer bay of each house is slightly recessed, with a Doric porch projecting forward to contain the entrance. The original front door remains at No. 3, while No. 1 has a 20th-century replacement. The ground floor is channelled with stucco. The windows have square heads, with gauged brick heads above the upper floor windows. They are tripartite, divided into small panes, except for the ground floor windows of No. 3. Rusticated brick quoins are present. Cast iron window guards are fitted to the ground and first floors, and cast iron railings lead to the steps.
