Description
Nos 21 and 22 Welbeck Street are terraced houses built around 1770-1780 as part of the Portland Estate development, sharing the same construction as Nos 23 and 24. They are made of stock brick with rusticated stucco ground floors and have slate roofs. The buildings rise to four storeys and a basement, featuring semicircular arched doorways on the right with panelled doors and fanlights. No 20 has flat console jambs and fluted doorheads. The upper floors have recessed sash windows set under flat gauged arches. A plat band runs above the ground floor, and there is a parapet with coping. No 21 has cast iron enriched 19th-century balconettes on the first floor, while No 22 features a wrought iron "Rococo" scrolled balcony. Both houses have cast iron area railings, with No 21 retaining urn finials and No 22 having plumbed spike finials.
