Description
No. 50 Queen Anne Street is a terraced house built around 1760-1770 as part of the Portland Estate development. It features stock brick construction with a channelled stucco ground floor and a leaded roof. The building has four storeys and a dormered mansard above a basement, with two windows across the front. To the right, there is a square-headed doorway with a panelled door and pilastered sidelights beneath a fanlight. The upper floors have recessed sash windows set under gauged flat arches. A plat band finishes the stuccowork at the first floor, and there is a parapet with coping above. A cast iron balcony from the mid-19th century is located at the first floor, and the area is enclosed by wrought iron railings topped with flambé urn finials. Inside, the house retains a geometrical staircase with slender turned balusters, as well as plasterwork friezes, cornices, and chimneypieces.
