Description
No. 67 Wimpole Street is a terraced town house built around 1770-1780 as part of the Portland Estate development. It is constructed of stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor and features a slate roof. The building has four storeys and a basement, with a three-window wide front that lacks stylistic ornamentation. To the left is a semicircular arched doorway, which includes a panelled door flanked by sidelights and panelled dividers, topped with a cornice and a fanlight that has a radial swagged pattern. The upper floors have recessed sash windows, which are set under flat arches made of stucco with voussoirs and keystones. A plat band runs along the first floor, and the parapet has coping. There are cast iron balconettes on the first floor and flambé urn finials on the area railings. The interior has not been inspected. A plaque from the London County Council notes that the historian Henry Hallam once resided here.
