Description
Nos 28 and 30 Weymouth Street are terraced townhouses built around 1780 as part of the Portland Estate development, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. They are constructed of stock brick, featuring a rusticated stucco ground floor and stucco dressings, topped with a slate roof. The buildings rise four storeys and include a basement, displaying a three-window wide front without stylistic embellishments.
To the right, there are semicircular arched doorways with later doors and patterned fanlights; No 28 features a vermiculated keystone. The upper floors have recessed sash windows set under flat gauged arches, with stucco architraves and cornices on the first floor, where the central window is adorned with a consoled pediment. A plat band runs above the ground floor, and there is a moulded stucco string course above the second floor. The parapet is finished with coping. A continuous cast iron balcony is present on the first floor, accompanied by cast iron tasselled spearhead area railings.
The interior of No 28 has been altered, while No 30 retains some notable plasterwork and mouldings, a stone geometrical staircase with an iron balustrade, and marble chimneypieces.
