Description

CITY OF WESTMINSTER PICCADILLY CIRCUS, Ml TQ 2980NE 71/206 Police Public call post GV on pavement to West of junction between Piccadilly and Regent Street II Police public call post about 1935 or earlier. Cast iron, made by the Carron Foundry. Tall narrow rectangular box with set backs to base, mounted corners and arched head with crowning light set within small flat topped 'cupola' with corner bars. Opaque glass plate (now broken) with instructions for use to small door in upper part. Words 'Police' and Police Public Call Post' in white against a blue background to each side and embossed crown above to front. A rare survival.
