Description
No. 25 Jermyn Street is an office building constructed between 1885 and 1886 by John Robinson, with extensions towards Nos. 207-209 Piccadilly designed by Paul Waterhouse in 1905, and a reconstruction of the ground and first floors by Michael Waterhouse in 1925. The building features a slate roof and a stone façade, designed in classical and Italianate styles. It has six storeys and is four bays wide. The ground and first floors, designed by M. Waterhouse, are unified by a giant Doric order of engaged columns that frame bronze doors and windows. The upper floors, designed by Robinson, have three sash windows in the right-hand bay and two sash windows in each of the other three bays, with the major bays defined by pilasters and entablatures across each floor. The attic storey includes arcaded windows and carved spandrels. The building is topped with a bold cornice and has ashlar chimney stacks with prominent cornices. It is included in association with Nos. 207-209 Piccadilly.
