Description
No. 7 Shepherd Street is a corner public house, likely built in the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The building is faced with stucco and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall with a dormered mansard roof and features three windows on both the front and the return side. The early 20th-century public house front includes a fascia and has been altered in the mid-20th century. The upper floors have recessed flat arched sash windows without glazing bars, and the building is topped with parapets that have copings. This property is part of the Shepherd Market development, which was laid out around 1735 and constructed around 1746, with Edward Shepherd as the builder, designer, and promoter, who also worked on the Grosvenor and Cavendish Estates.
