Description

A pair of terrace houses located on Shepherd Market, dating from the early to mid-19th century, and likely representing a rebuild or refacing of an 18th-century structure. They are part of the Shepherd Market development, originally laid out around 1735 and built around 1746 by Edward Shepherd, who designed and built on the Grosvenor and Cavendish Estates. The houses are constructed of yellow and red brick with a slate roof and extend over four storeys, with a two-window front. The mid-19th century shop fronts have been altered, featuring entablatures on the ground floor; the one at number 34 projects from its three-window return to the west. The upper floors have recessed sash windows without glazing bars, set within stucco architraves. The houses are topped with parapets and copings.
