Description
Nos 25 and 27 Shepherd Market are a pair of small houses with shops, rebuilt as part of the market block around 1830 to 1840. They are finished in stucco and topped with slate roofs, featuring two storeys and a dormered mansard. Each house is one window wide, with pilastered shop fronts that were altered in the mid-20th century. The first-floor windows are recessed sash windows with cornices and no glazing bars. The buildings have parapets with copings. Shepherd Market was laid out around 1735 and built around 1746, designed and promoted by Edward Shepherd, who was involved in development on the Grosvenor and Cavendish Estates.
