Description
No. 36 Shepherd Market is a terrace house that was rebuilt or recast in the mid-19th century, although it is based on an 18th-century structure. The building features painted brickwork and a slate roof, standing three storeys tall with two irregular window bays. The ground floor has an altered mid-19th-century shop front and doorway beneath a fascia. The upper floors boast recessed sash windows without glazing bars, set under flat gauged arches. The building is topped with a parapet that has coping. It is part of the Shepherd Market development, which was laid out around 1735 and constructed around 1746, with Edward Shepherd as the builder, designer, and promoter, working on the Grosvenor and Cavendish Estates.
