Description

Numbers 40-45 Blomfield Road, including the front garden wall and gatepiers of numbers 40-44, form an early to mid-19th century terrace. The building is constructed of brick, rendered with stucco, and has a concealed roof. The terrace follows a curved plan, accommodating a corner site. It is two storeys high, with an attic and basement, and comprises twelve bays, with the bays preceding the corner sections slightly projecting. Angle pilasters emphasize the projecting bays and the central section. The ground floor features panelled doors with overlights, set within architraves topped with cornices resting on consoles. Tuscan-style projecting porches are present at numbers 41-45. Sash windows with glazing bars and margin lights are largely within architraves. The ground floor has cornices and pediments supported by corbels. A sill band runs along the first floor, and a cornice tops the building. Further cornices feature in the attic. A dwarf wall with iron railings, incorporating stucco gatepiers, runs in front of numbers 40-44.
