Description

Nos. 519 to 529 on Commercial Road are an early 19th-century terrace built of stock brick, although No. 519 has been refronted with stucco and features a cornice and blocking course. The terrace has a cornice on Nos. 525 to 529 and brick coping on Nos. 521 and 523. The buildings are three storeys tall with a basement and have two windows each. The windows are sashes with painted reveals and are unbarred, although the top floor of No. 525 has modern casements. They feature gauged flat arches. No. 519 has shouldered architraves and ground floor windows set in shallow rusticated arches, flanked by rusticated pilasters, with a cornice and frieze above a corner door and fanlight. There is a similar return to Arbour Square. Nos. 521 to 529 have round-headed windows, with No. 521's ground floor finished in channelled stucco. All doors are round-headed with concave stuccoed archivolts. Nos. 523 to 529 retain fluted pilasters, and all have plain fanlights, with all doors being panelled except for No. 523. This group of buildings, Nos. 495 to 529, is associated with other listed buildings in Albert Gardens.
