Description
The bandstand at Boundary Street Garden, built in 1899, is located at the center of a raised garden and serves as a focal point visible from all the radiating streets of the Boundary Estate. This octagonal wooden bandstand features a Japanese style tiled roof with a finial and wide overhanging eaves, complemented by a curved roofline. Inside, it has a plain painted ribbed ceiling that creates an unusual impression of radiating panels, and it is surrounded by a clapboard balustrade.
The Boundary Estate is an early London County Council estate known for its advanced design for the time, showcasing a variety of architectural details. The streets of the estate radiate from the central raised park in Arnold Circus, forming a cohesive group with several surrounding streets.
