Description
Iffley House is a building constructed in 1899, located in the Boundary Estate, Arnold Circus, E2. It is made of red brick with a ground floor of glazed brick and features a heavy stucco eaves cornice. The building has a slate mansard roof and stands four storeys high with dormers, spanning three bays in width. The ground floor includes a central casement window with a segmental arch, flanked by a semi-circular window. There is a stucco string course at the first floor sill height, with flanking canted bays that have heavy stucco dressings at the base. The windows are sashes set under segmental arches, with pedimented dormers above.
The Boundary Estate is recognized as an early London County Council estate, notable for its advanced design for the time. It features a variety of architectural details, and its streets radiate from a central raised park in Arnold Circus.
