Description
The bandstand, built in 1861 by Captain Francis Fowke, is a circular structure supported by coupled iron columns and features quadripartite pierced iron brackets. Its roof is designed in the shape of a Greek cross, with quadrants filling the angles. Above this, there is a shallow drum of pierced ironwork that supports a gadrooned lead dome topped with a candlestick finial. Originally located in the Royal Horticultural Society's Garden in South Kensington, the bandstand was re-erected at Clapham in 1890. It currently lacks its balustrade and finial, and its base has been altered.
