Description

This is a house dating to around 1800, situated on the west side of Clapham Common. It is a symmetrical three-story building, five bays wide, constructed with yellow brick and stucco dressings, topped with a slate roof. The windows are characterized by gauged flat arches. A Doric porch, with a segmental plan featuring columns and pilaster responds, is centrally located on the front and is flanked by pairs of windows recessed within shallow arcading; the semicircular arches of this arcading rise from stucco impost blocks. A moulded bandcourse runs above the first floor, and the principal frieze and cornice support a blocking course. The chimneys have oversailing courses. The rear elevation features a stuccoed ground floor framed by a glazed iron verandah, with windows fitted with French doors.
