Description
The former 'K' Warehouse at St John's Wharf, built around 1870, is a four-storey stock brick warehouse that underwent alterations to an earlier 19th-century structure. The building features a three-bay front with a parapet coping that rises into two gables. Changes in the brickwork and blocked windows on the east elevation, where there is a cornice below the parapet and brick string courses on the left-hand gabled bay, suggest it has been rebuilt. The front includes two arched lights in the gables and segmental-arched windows that are trimmed with red-painted engineering brick. There is an off-centre hatch rank with bull-nosed engineering brick reveals and a jibbed plate steel hoist. The riverside elevation mirrors the front with two unequal gables and an off-centre hatch rank. Additionally, there is a two-storey workshop range built onto the west side, which has a splayed end that aligns with the hatch and hoist.
