Description

Nos 108 and 110 Wapping High Street are an early 19th century pair of three-storey, three-bay houses built of stock brick. No 108 has a broader elevation compared to No 110. Both buildings feature a parapet with stone coping. No 110 has a mansard slate roof with two dormers, while No 108 has been altered to a flat roof.

The first floor of No 108 has two broad windows, which were originally tripartite sashes, flanking a narrower central window that is now blind. The second floor has three standard-sized windows, all featuring flat gauged arches and stuccoed reveals. A wood cornice and fascia are present above a remodelled Edwardian office on the ground floor, which is tile-faced and includes a central waggon entrance leading to the yard.

No 110 has a similarly remodelled ground floor but retains two six-panel doors, with the left door featuring reeded framing and corner roundels on the panels. The upper floors of No 110 maintain original thin glazing bar sashes, with three and five panes on the first floor and three and four panes on the second floor. The side elevation of No 110 curves around, featuring an inset bow that contains stairlights and blind windows, leading to the south yard elevation, which has tripartite sash windows.

At the rear of No 108, there is a workshop range linked across the yard that extends out to the wharf. This two-storey structure, built of stock brick in the mid-19th century, features a continuous range of first-floor Yorkshire casements and a rendered ground floor with triple groups of Yorkshire lights.
