Description

Three Colts Bridge is an accommodation bridge built in 1830, with 20th-century alterations. It features a slightly cambered cast iron girder deck and an open, geometric iron parapet railing on the east side, which is protected by iron mesh screens. The west side has only iron mesh screens. The bridge is supported by brick abutments and wing walls that include a brick band, stone quoins, and stone copings. The road surface is made of concrete and asphalt. This bridge was constructed at the same time as the Hertford Union Canal and is designated as a scheduled ancient monument.
