Description
Parnell Road Bridge is an accommodation bridge built in 1830, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a cast iron girder and plate deck, complemented by open, geometric iron parapet railings. The brick abutments and wing walls are accented with stone quoins and stone and brick copings. The road surface is made of concrete and asphalt. This bridge was constructed at the same time as the Hertford Union Canal was opened. It is also designated as a scheduled ancient monument.
