Description

This is an accommodation bridge, known as Bridge Number 56, built between 1793 and 1800, with later alterations. It follows the standard design of the Grand Junction Canal Company, likely created by William Jessop. The bridge features a single elliptical arch with a stone soffit and stone arch rings. The lower parts of the abutments are made of brick and some stone. It has a brick band, a slightly cambered solid parapet, and solid piers. The parapet copings are made of saddleback brick and concrete. The arch is protected by two iron rope fenders.
